Staged reconstructive surgery in patients with congenital cleft lip and palate
Abstract
Modern oral and maxillofacial surgery is one of the most rapidly progressing branches of medicine. Among dental
diseases, problems with congenital pathology in the maxillofacial area have always attracted special attention of
researchers, which is confirmed by numerous scientific works, international congresses and symposia of doctors.
At present, the requirements for the quality and efficiency of dental care for the population have significantly increased.
In Kyrgyzstan, the issue of treatment and rehabilitation of children with Congenital Cleft Lip and palate (CGL) is still
relevant due to the lack of qualified specialized care. Improving the methods of prevention and treatment of such children
is one of the most important tasks in maxillofacial surgery. In this regard, we have developed and introduced into
practice a comprehensive method of treating AHV, including a modified innovative method of cheiloplasty, uranoplasty,
autoosseous plasty of the alveolar process of the upper jaw, open rhinoplasty.
The purpose of this work is to increase the effectiveness of the results of surgical intervention in the treatment of
congenital clefts of the lip, palate and alveolar process of the upper jaw, as well as to carry out rhinoplasty in order to
restore the aesthetic appearance of patients.
Methodology: In cases of congenital cleft lip in children at the age of 6 months, modified cheiloplasty is used. At the
age of 12 to 18 months, uranoplasty is performed (Patent KR No1349). From 9 to 11 years old, autoosseous plasty is
implemented according to the technique proposed by us (Patent KR No2062). At the age of 16, open rhinoplasty is
performed. Thus, within one year, from 150 to 180 operations are performed to correct congenital cleft lip and palate in
our clinic (Osh Interregional United Clinical Hospital).
Results of the Study: In our clinic, the Osh Interregional United Clinical Hospital, modern techniques are actively
used to correct congenital cleft lip and palate, which allows us to achieve significant results in the treatment of children.
Modified cheiloplasty: At the age of 6 months, the first surgery is performed - modified cheiloplasty, which aims to
correct a cleft lip. This technique allows you to minimize scars and improve the cosmetic effect, thanks to the use of
specialized sutures and healing technologies
