Title: COMPARISON OF COCHLEAR FUNCTION BEFORE AND AFTER SHOOTING THE 105 HOWITZER GUN BASED ON DPOAE EXAMINATION

Abstract

Acoustic trauma is a condition where a single exposure to intense and loud sounds can directly result in hearing loss. One of the occupational activities that can expose individuals to high-intensity noise is shooting exercises commonly conducted by military personnel and military training students. This research is a study with secondary data, conducted using an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach and total sampling as the sampling method. The research instrument used is the data from Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission (DPOAE) examinations. The research findings indicate that before the firing exercise of the Howitzer 105 Cannon, 90 students (90%) from the Armed Forces Training Center had normal cochlear function, while 10 students (10%) showed impaired function. After the firing exercise of the Howitzer 105 Cannon, 76 students (76%) still maintained normal cochlear function, while the remaining 24 students (24%) experienced cochlear function disorders. Based on the analysis using the Wilcoxon test, it was found that there is a statistically significant relationship between cochlear function before and after the firing exercise of the Howitzer 105 Cannon, with a probability value (p-value) of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The conclusion drawn from this research is that there is a difference in cochlear function before and after the firing exercise of the Howitzer 105 Cannon conducted by Armed Forces Training Center students. The cochlear function was found to be worse after the exercise compared to before.
